woman at the well
It occurs to me that for some it might be helpful if I elaborated on the Woman at the Well and why in the world I would chose such an image. First, read John 4:5-26, 39-42. One day, I had read this scripture in Mass and Deacon Lee said to me: "I've always thought of you as the woman at the well." I took this to mean my position as a convert to the Faith and then going forth to tell others. He meant it as a compliment, but I also pointed out that I, like the woman at the well, had been married several times. He seemed surprised and said he might not have mentioned this to me if he had known that - but it is of little account to me - I'm open about having a rather rocky past ... looking forward to a better future and a glorious life in heaven (note that I'm assuming I'll make it to purgatory.)
Also, I feel like the woman at the well - I have been touched by Christ in a deep and transforming way. I am telling others about it. I know I must stay by the well and continue to receive the living water. When I began to think of this blog, I recalled this encounter with Deacon Lee and it just seemed to fit.
