It's almost the weekend again, and I haven't written about LAST weekend. On Sunday, after Mass, Paul and I drove to Emmitsburg, where there is a basicilica to Mother Seton. The area includes one of the original homes the sisters used for the school and a home the sisters lived in while the larger, wood frame school/home/convent was being prepared. It was so moving to see the sister's cemetery, with rows and rows of identical markers. Reminded me of a military cemetery - I think the women are in service, too, in service of the Church.
I'm so glad that Paul wants to go on these trips. He enjoys museums like Karl and Ellen always did. It's wonderful that he considers it a treat to drive to a shrine :)
Along the way, we went through beautiful, rolling wooded country and passed through Westminster, the town we considered moving to. It is a nice little town, similar to Cheyenne, only prettier. Frank would have liked it way better than where we're at - but the commute would have been at least an hour every day. More in bad weather. Even on the light rail, which I had considered using, there'd be a fairly long walk or bus ride to the office. There are people in the office who commute an hour, and they say you get used to it, but it would really cut into my time with the family. Our house is fine. It's just not possible to have a commute shorter than the 20 minute commute I have now, unless you lived in one of the row houses around here - which isn't advisable for a family. So, there you go.
