Another first for me - I don't even mind people thinking that I'm just some hick, you just have to remember that things are different 'out west.' Anyhow, my first was taking the train to Philadelphia, rather than driving. It was wildly expensive - nearly $300 for Dan and me to take the train, not counting about $30 in taxi charges to and from the train station to Camden - but it was pretty cool. Oh, and the $11 to park at the Baltimore train station for 5 hours. I mean, its about $20 in gas for the same trip. Anyhow, we did zip down there with about a hour on the train and another 1/2 hour waiting in the train station (or less.) On the way back, we ate lunch in the dining car and were back at work at 1:30 p.m. Both train stations are classic train stations - great old buildings, with benches, archways, tile floors. Just classics. Apparently, Philadelphia's station has more shopping available, but we breezed through pretty quickly both ways, so I saw the shops from a distance.
Today, we're off to buy plants for Paul's science fair project. He's on track for being in the gifted and talented math and reading at school. I'm glad I was on track thinking what will help him in school.
