Soon, we will be "empty nesters." The little chick hatched and it was so fun to come home and have two little sets of eyes peering at us from the planter. But now, the parents have basically left the little one alone, for reasons we don't comprehend, and it is spending its time on the edge of the nest, like a diver on the edge of a diving board. Thankfully, there are few loose cats in the area to kill the little one, as cats kills thousands of song birds annually, and we wish the little bird the best!
