Martial arts
Well, signed Paul up for six months of martial arts classes - for the cost of what the Catholic school tuition was in Wyoming. Ouch. Plus, head gear, mouth piece, boxing gloves and an "athletic supporter." Is this some sort of fan club?
But he seem a natural at it - of course, that's what the head dude told us, and although I wonder if he's just saying that so we'd sign up, but I've seen him spend extra time with him, so I do think he's on the level. I need to learn not to be so suspicious. Anyhow, we liked the guys in Baltimore, but this Tiger Schulman place is more professionally run and does a wider variety of moves and martial arts styles. The head dude said that Paul should compete in a regional meet in June in ground work, and perhaps in December in striking. Paul's already not dropping his head as much, and looking people in the eye, so I think this is the right thing to do.
He's also finally doing his homework. He hates the math, and I don't blame him, but he's too young to fail math. Also, he seems to be making friends at the school, although no one has come over, nor invited him over, but he talks about playing tag with the boys at recess, and talks about the guys he sits with at lunch, so that is definite progress.
Looking forward to seeing Ellen and the gang on Sunday - Paul and I were going to build a sandbox on Saturday, but it seems that winter is headed our way again, boo hoo. (Today in Cheyenne it was 27 degrees, with an 18-MPH wind, that made it feel like 14) so our balmy 60 degree weather is just fine by me, and if it plunges all the way to 40, that'll be OK, too.
After about a month of feeding the squirrels, when what I want to do is feed the birds, the birds finally have found the feeder. Today, doves came - I wondered when they'd show up, they really like sunflower seeds. Two mornings ago on my walk, about a half a block from the house, I saw two red tailed hawks! That was pretty exciting. It reminded me of seeing a sparrow hawk near the house in Baltimore, harassing the poor little birdies. The only thing I miss about Baltimore (other than not being in foreclosure on my house and probably filing for bankruptcy) is the birds. And maybe, the Inner Harbor. Nice place to visit, just wouldn't want to live there :)

I hope things keep on turning around for Paul. He is such a great kid.
I look forward to seeing you on Sunday too.
I love all the birds around here. I saw a hawk circling around yesterday and I am pretty sure I saw a cardinal this morning.
