Old Barracks Museum
On impulse today, Paul and I decided to go down to the Old Barracks Museum. What a good choice! There were few people there, downtown was deserted because the state offices were closed, so we were able to park. AND, even better, the museum is really cool. We did the guided tour, as you can see, and the fellow was entertaining and knowledgable and great for little kids. It was a nice little museum. We were there about an hour and a half. There is a small museum and the tour features an inside look at the lives of the soldiers. I didn't know what the term "sleep tight" means - but it refers to the tighening of the ropes under the bed; and "snug as a bug in a rug" doesn't refer to the rug on the floor. Carpets were on the floor; rugs were heavy woven "blankets" on the bed. Never too old to learn something new!
