Back to school ...
There's a certain air of industry and excitement on campus. Classes start on Monday, and the parking lots are filling up, the University band is practicing outdoors, students are lining up for advising in our office. Because the International Students come in early, there are flocks of Chinese students and I wonder what it must be like to be so far from home, even if there are other students and advisors to help. At the International Student Day, many students came up to our booth - most were single men and women, but there was one absolutely charming graduate student from Kazakhstan who came with her family. Enrollment was held earlier also, but there's one more day of orientation and enrollment here. As proof that I've lost my mind, I do plan on going to Walmart after work today, and student loans were released today. It will be a madhouse.
Paul is in football every afternoon after school, which started yesterday. He's got his pads and mouthpiece and everything. I look up yesterday evening, to see him running by the house, carrying a football - and this is after a two hour practice at the school. He seems determined to catch up, since he's never really done much football or any sport other than Martial Arts, really. As proof that farming is useful, he's used to being out in the heat with The Man, who is immune to the heat apparently, and Paul is one of the kids who isn't sitting out at the practice due to the excess heat and humidity.
We've had a streatch of decent weather - less humidity at least - but it's all over now, just in time for our event this weekend "Walk Your Schedule" which involves us walking all over campus with the students. Oh well ...

I went to school today and there was orientation going on. I can't believe that was me last semester.
Paul the football player... I need pictures.
Well, I'll try to force him into something. At the first game, he won't have a choice ...
