Washington Crossing State Park
What a great time we had today at Washington Crossing State Park. They had a day of living history. We had a great time, even though it was a bit chilly. I've always enjoyed these glimpses of the past - Rendezvous out west are particularly enjoyable. But this was fun, too. Paul always acts like he's too cool for this sort of stuff, and then, he's off enjoying it, as you see above, with the rifle of a young soldier. He and Hannah had a great time playing hoops. There's nothing Simon won't try - even if he's not particularly interested in it, for example the plowing, he'll give it a go if he can lay his hands on it. I remember when I was teaching at the junior college, we had a short class on "learning styles" and one of the styles was hands-on, figuring something out by doing it. This appears to be Simon, and I think he may struggle with school because of it, because it is not the usual learning style and it can be disruptive in a traditional classroom setting. But, if the teachers can work with it, he should be able to excel in school. He's certainly willing to try almost anything. He even "signed up" to join the Navy.
