Apple picking!

Ellen and the gang came over Saturday for a day of apples ... picking and applesauce making. We went to Terhune Orchards north of here, just a few miles up toward Princeton. Ellen's been apple picking at another orchard and was very impressed with this one because the trees were so close to the ground, and the kids could pick the apples themselves. In no time, we had more apples than I imagined - more than 50 pounds! Fortunately, they are Empire variety, and just exquisite apples. Each kid had a bag, and you can see, the bags got a bit heavy. We thought about getting pumpkins, but there was no more room in Ellen's car!
