I've been admiring my quilt and thinking - this is how a family heirloom begins. I can see Paul's grandchildren in 100 years, looking at the quilt and the writing that says "Quilt made for Paula Glover 2008 with love Ellen Grisinger." And I can see them remembering how their great-aunt Ellen was such a good quilter. And, of couse, I hope they have some charming "great-grandma" stories to tell.

I really enjoy links to the past. I've been reading David Hackett Fischer's book "Washington's Crossing." Because this all takes place around here, it really ads interest for me. I walk by one of the creeks that feature in the move from Trenton to Princton, and I can visualize the areas they are talking about. Of course, we've been to the Clark home where the major Princeton battle was fought. There are houses still standing from that era. It is so moving to me to realize that men marched by where I live now, leaving bloody footprints in the snow, so I can live in freedom.
