My, how time flies ...
Not much going on here to blog about, but I can't believe it is Jan. 10 already. Mainly busy with routine things, but I have decided to train in martial arts at the same Tiger Schulman's where Paul trains. I've done two classes - at the second class today, people were saying "so, you came back." I was a little worried before the first class, as I'm not certain about my ability to do any of it, but I hung in there and did OK. In any event, there are many new people starting all the time, so I'm not alone, and I can see a wide range of abilities and fitness. I think I'm probably the oldest woman I've seen so far - its hard for me to judge, but one woman who was joking about being old looks to me to be in her early 40s, but who can tell? I really want to keep the weight loss going that started due to not being able to eat during the gallbladder problems, and I want to improve my fitness. My daily walk is really paying off - I'm not nearly as winded as some of the others, but I really need to strengthen my muscle strength and ability to do things like repeated kicks. I guess it's time to hit the heavy bag in the basement ... and I'm very glad I went to physical therapy last April for my back and kept up the exercises.
When I started this blog, I intended to write about aging and haven't done many reflective posts lately. But I think at my age, almost 52, it would be easy to slide into increasing vulnerability. I mean, being overly dependent upon other people and caving into physical problems rather than seeking solutions. Years ago, I decided to strive to be as healthy as I could be, and now I'm ready to really get a grip on this.
