Beautiful sunset in windbreak and in fields

New holding pond for runoff from fields - good soil conservation in action

See the terrace in the background that will bring the water to the pond?
Well, a couple of interesting things going on around the farm. Most notably, The Man has contracted for a holding pond to control water from the fields, which has been channeled through a terrace. It is good soil conservation practice. Now, will we have a skating rink this winter? A carp pond next summer? I'll bet we could get the Great Blue Heron to come and fish in the pond ... Really, ultimately, it will provide a nice landscaped entrance to the farm in addition to the practical purpose of controlling erosion.
