Well, I ordered a new batch of chicks from a hatchery, wanting to try out different breeds than we can get around here. However, we've had troubles with them, probably self-generated, and we've lost 10 of the 26. It's been very sad. I think the trouble initially was that we didn't warm them fast enough; then I made a huge error and didn't tighted down the water holder, and flooded them. I caught it within a half hour, but already stressed chicks, standing in cold water was a recipe for disaster. I think the remainding chicks will be just fine, but it's been a tough few days emotionally for me.

Sorry you lost some of them. I'd be sad if I lost some of the chicks. The rest of them are hardy and ready for life in Kansas!
