Sorry, I couldn't resist. The Man brought the cows in from pasture yesterday, in addition to some he bought at the sale barn, so the place is looking very pastoral. And sounding like it too, with all the mooing. He planted his soybeans early this year (because he had to come and fetch me) and therefore, he was able to get his in early and his corn is in early also, which is good as we've had lots of rain and the harvest will be delayed for many farmers.
The trees are turning and the maples are orange and red, dotting the hill sides. It's very pretty, and fall is OK with me, but it means winter is coming, which is a bummer. All that is left in the garden is the late season lettuce and some leeks - my little birdie friends have flown away (I'm hoping some variety will arrive for winter, as I have about a ton of suet in the freezer). I guess we'll wait and see what winter brings here.
I've been swamped with school, but overall I think I'm doing OK - and I've been continuing with the freelancing and posting the stories on http://www.paula-glover.blogspot.com/ after the stories have been published.
On the Paul front: He has decided to play basketball, which shocked the heck out of me. But The Man played basketball in high school and college, so he has a built-in coach, and basketball is a big deal around here, and there's enthusiasm for his decision. Two of his new friends will play on the 7th grade team, and I think that might be part of the reason. I've tried several times to talk him into wrestling, as a continuation of the martial arts, but he just does not want to. He went to a wrestling camp this summer, so at least he's tried it, but he is pretty stubborn about it, so I caved in.
I'm still looking for someone to teach me Middle English ... oh, the agony of being an English major :)
