More adventures in Farming

You've seen the photo of the little calf; well, it is just sort of not quite right, at least to my inexperienced non-farmer eyes. The Man has been out of town, so we are entrusted with the care of this poor little being. Tom and Kay came down and helped the first day, and came back the next morning, and thought it would be OK; but I'm all worried because it is hot (the heat index must be 100 degrees) and the mother leaves it behind and goes to take her ease in the shade, while the baby bakes in the sun. So, Paul and I have been going out every hour or so, and on my last round, I decided that I had to take action. So, I just picked up the little bugger and toted him off to his mother, put him down in front of her and said "Take care of your baby." She, of course, tried to run me off! How's that for gratitude? Now, she's interested?

When I went inside, Paul said "Why didn't you call the her to the calf?" I'm like "What?" He says The Man told him to mimic the distress call of the calf, and the mother comes immediately. Well. Who'd of thunk it? Not me...
