Goodness, this has been the fastest 7 months of my life. Grad school has been challenging and I've learned so much more than I imagined I would. I'm really going to brag for a moment, and quote briefly from the response to my poems from my professor. "I have enjoyed and admired your cheerful diligence and dedication this semester." She said I'm the queen of revisions! Well, I had a lot to learn. She's the professor who told me they wouldn't let me sink ... in the letter she said "as soon as we threw you in the pond you struck out, learning to swim." She said my poems have "had a fresh, engaging air to them all along, which I attribute to in part to the fact the YOU are finding life fascinating, and you convey this nicely in your writing." Now, isn't she gracious?
I also learned that John Donne is a fascinating character from the 17th century. I would love to take the professor's class on the 17th century poets next semester, but I'm sticking to Tuesday/Thursday classes so I can also work. Life is just so startling and unexpected, I just don't know what's next!
