Just a general New York shot.

Ellen and Seth at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Detail of a suit of armor in the museum.

Just a lovely statue in the Medieval portion of the museum.

New York

Trip to the Metropolitan Museum of Art today was most interesting. Particularly after studying British Literature this last semester, I found the Medieval and Renaissance portions of the museum to be more rich and with more meaning, more connections. For example, they have the suit of armor of one of Sir James Scudamore, a man praised in Edmund Spenser's Faerie Queene. Now, before taking the course, this would have mean nothing to me, but now it added a wonderful connection. The suit of armor pictured is not his - his is behind glass and I wasn't all that pleased with the photo.

Ellen drove us in and we attempted to swing by Rockefeller Center on our way back out, but the traffic was horrific and we opted to just head home. Some day, I'll get the see the tree at Christmas, and the store windows. I like going into the City (particularly when someone brave like Ellen is driving) but I can't imagine facing that day after day.

Tomorrow, a day at the home ... making gingerbread houses.
