What a wonderful day at the hay market in Lancaster. As you can see, there actually IS a hay market and auction and The Man sold his hay to an Amish farmer for his horses. I got to tag along (feeling like a little kid again) and we went off to this nice fellow's house, while I watched the two of them, along with the Amish fellow's son and daughter, unload 80 pound bails of hay. It was so fun to talk to the girl, about 14 or so, I guess. She was very shy and went about her chores while I chatted with her. All the Amish farms are so neat and clean, all the wash hung carefully on the line... I admire the Amish greatly, but I do wonder what sort of social conditioning results in such uniformity, and what happens to the ones that just don't quite fit in?
More packing and I'll be off of the internet for several days. More news to follow, however!
