What a busy week!

House is finished in terms of unpacking, etc. Will be ready to upload photos Monday evening (God willing) after the internet provider is here to move the computers around. I tell you, one more good thing about being here - the tech people actually ANSWER THE PHONE and are ACTUALLY HELPFUL. Such a deal.

There's a special event here at the farm for one of the family members in a couple of weeks, so I've been buzzing around, getting the landscaping ready. Finished an area around the front of the porch on the house, basically landscaping to screen the base of the porch. Replaced plants out by a large sign - The Man's sister put in some beautiful tulips, but they're done for this year.

Added hot peppers to the eight tomato plants in the garden - there will be a salsa making operation here in the fall! The challenge with getting here so late is that I've had trouble with the transplants not basically looking like cooked spinach. It was supposed to be cooler today, so last night, I transplanted all these plants on a hard western exposure, and now the chilly weather is supposed to be on Tuesday. Let's hope the little plants live that long!

Overall, we are having a grand time. Paul is actually out helping The Man with something to do with repairing a tractor - go figure. Paul also goes down to the creek, where he messes around, and comes back with his wildlife observations. There's a crane or a heron down there. I'll have to figure it out. Saw a hawk in near the barn. Beautiful blue birds and cardinals live around here. At night, I hear owls and coyotes. Neighbors report raccoons and skunks, although they haven't bothered us yet. There's supposed to be a bobcat, also.

Gone into Manhattan several times. What a wonderful place - no traffic to speak of; streets that are actually labeled and logical; friendly people; almost no lines in the stores; GREAT library; Starbucks ... and we found a USED BOOKSTORE! It just keeps getting better and better.

Now, I'm off to get some iced tea ...
