Well, since I'm really not a newspaper editor anymore, and in a week will no longer be even the "photo/web editor" perhaps it is time for me to pass along the poem that Joe Donadue, the former Monitor editor, passed on to me, from Vincent A. Weiss, the founding editor of The Monitor.

Editor at the Gates
An editor knocked at the Pearly Gates,
his face was scarred and cold.
He stood before the man of fate
for admission to the fold.
"What have you done?" St. Peter asked,
"to gain admission here?"
"I've been an editor, sir," he said,
"for many and many a year."
The Pearly Gates swung wide,
St. Peter touched the bell -
"Come in," he said, "and choose your harp,
"you've had your share of hell."
