Same sunsetHere's the same sunset photo, properly teched with Photoshop (which was down for a couple of days while I worked up my courage to call their tech support people.) I'm putting it up, because you can see down the lane to the main road, a couple of hundred yards away.
Interesting trip today to a town north of here where the fellow that etches the stone posts has a thriving business, etching rocks. Go figure. But, it is quite the operation, and they can etch almost anything into the rocks - from logos to sayings to simple names. Since we sold the first stone post off of the Craigslist, and I hope to sell more from the web site, www.kansas-stone-posts.com I hope we're up there frequently. Plus, there's a little town called Frankfort along the way that looks to have a very interesting antique store ...
Fridge in the kitchen went out today. Of course, in true farmer fashion there's another one in the basement, along with a giant chest freezer. Oh, and another one in the tool shed. No problem, but its a long way to go for an ice cube.
But the day started off with God displaying his sense of humor ... I was literally thinking that the dog has had a fairly smooth transition here while we were on our morning walk. Down by the creek, a skunk emerges from the bushes, innocently headed, I'm assuming, for a morning drink. Well, the little dog sees it and takes off after it, while I'm screaming "Maggie. NO. Maggie. NO.' I'm sure she thought it was a cat. Well, she learned differently, and emerged from the bushes about the time I had waded across the little creek - she was rubbing her face on the dirt, not a happy dog. I'm not a happy mom. Thinking of Ellen and Daniel, who googled how to get a bat out of the house - I go google how to get skunk off of a dog. I had heard of the tomato juice treatment, and a web site suggested it, so, donning rubber gloves, I washed her with dog shampoo, and a couple rounds of the juice. Thankfully, either The Man or his mother kept a can of tomato juice around. I let her dry off, then treated her again. We'll see when she can come inside again.
We went to a cousin's house, and I know they have dogs, and I asked him how to deal with a dog that has been skunked. "Might be easier to get another dog." Thanks :)
