I haven't written about how I am suddenly enraptured with the sky. I guess it is part of coming to know the sky and horizion again after not being able to see much along that line in New Jersey. Not that there's no sky, of course, but the vistas are few and far between. Now, I enjoy that, too - the density and cosyness of the trees - but I did not realize how much I missed the sunsets and seeing for miles and miles. It's more than just not being able to navigate by line of site, which I am convinced was one of the reasons I was so constantly lost back east - it is more something in line with recognizing the beauty of the sky. The sunlight filters through the clouds and gives the feeling of God extending his hands - for those who have seen the icon of the Divine Mercy, that is how the love of Jesus is protrayed, as colored rays.
In any event, today, I tagged along again with The Man as we went to the pasture, this time to collect "hedge posts." Now, he assures me that they are from the Hedge tree, but since about half the time, he's teasing I have no idea if there is such a tree or not. I caught the above photos, just walking along a little creek. And the last bird, I think, is an immature meadow lark. It let me walk right up to it, which surprised the heck out of me. You just don't know until you go out to see ...

I do miss always knowing what direction I am facing. Denver being on a grid system helped a lot too. I was just as lost in Seattle. Curvy roads, dead ends, narrow too, water all around, hills, mountains on both sides... yeah, I wish I had had a GPS then!
